Provident Fund is a amount of money saved by the Government for employees so they can withdraw it after leaving the company. In Provident Fund there are two shares i.e. By Employee & other is from the company in which you are working. There are several ways to check your PF Balance. You can now check your EPF balance online using the new E-passbook facility available on the EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organisation) website. I am writing the ways here to check your PF Balance.

◆ EPFO Online Portal:

Instead of the unified portal, users will now be able to access their PF passbooks on a different website run by the EPFO. The balance in the EPF Passbook can be checked online on this EPFO website where you need to key in your UAN (Universal Account Number) ID and password. You can also download or print the passbook from the website. The unified portal can, however, still be used for transactional services like Transfers.

Step 1: The member passbook is available at

Step 2: Click on ‘For Employees’ under ‘Our Services’

Step 3: Click on ‘Member Passbook’ under ‘Services’

Alternatively, You can directly go to the page:

To view the passbook, make sure your UAN is activated by the employer. If the UAN isn’t activated then activate it first On EPFO Portal. Remember, UAN is provided by the EPFO but it has to be verified and activated by your employer. So, if yours has already been activated, use it along with your password to log in and check your passbook balance.

The passbook facility is not available for members of establishments that are exempt under the EPF Scheme, 1952. If you still try to log in, you will get this message: “Passbook not available to this Member-id as this pertains to the exempted establishment (i.e. Trust). Requested to contact your employer.”
